We offer tutoring in the following subjects:
Pre-Algebra.
Pre-Algebra is a crucial crossroads in a student’s mathematical journey. The main reason students fall behind in Math can be traced back to their experience with Pre-Algebra. We focus on the fundamentals: Numerical Fluency, Fraction Arithmetic, and the foundational laws of Algebra.
Algebra II.
This class will not slow down to explain prerequisite techniques covered in Algebra I. Furthermore, you will be applying advanced factoring techniques and in-depth graph analysis when covering Conic Sections. This class is typically much more demanding than Algebra I or Geometry, both in workload and in complexity of the material.
Algebra.
Applying the foundational laws of Algebra is a step-by-step process. Chunking (the process of breaking down a complex problem into a series of simple problems) is a critical technique to help students stay grounded and confident when learning how to solve equations, graph functions, and simplify algebraic expressions.
Pre-Calculus.
Trigonometry will be your main focus in Pre-Calculus. You will be introduced to the Unit Circle, a central tool used when computing trigonometric functions for Special Angles. Proofs return in Trigonometry, and many students consider these proofs to be the most challenging unit so far. Marino Prep has mastered the process of systematizing and demystifying Trig Identity Proofs and the process of graphing Trig functions.
Geometry.
Like Algebra, we will be learning new laws regarding relationships formed within Triangles, Circles, Polygons, and Parallel Lines. Proof Writing is a skill introduced in Geometry, which requires more creativity and critical thinking than concepts in Algebra. We have tons of mnemonic techniques and colorful diagrams to help organize material.
AB/BC Calculus.
The crown jewel of Mathematics! Up until now, you have been honing the tools of Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Logic. In Calculus, you will finally apply these tools to perform some truly beautiful and awe-inspiring Math. Calculus can serve as a critical gateway for students to move from being skilled in Math to becoming actively passionate about the subject.
We LOVE teaching Calculus!
Select College Math Courses.
If you are taking introductory Linear Algebra or Differential Equations, we are here to help! These courses can sometimes be a student’s first experience with math beyond the Algebra-Calculus track. In those cases, it can be very helpful to have a tutor to bounce ideas off of.
Chemistry.
From naming molecules and compounds, to Stoichiometry, to the litany of laws and properties required for lab-oriented word problems, Chemistry offers a number of rewarding, real-world challenges. Organization and precision will be the key to success in Chemistry.
Digital SAT Prep.
The SAT is a test that demands not only knowledge of the core subjects within, but knowledge of the tendencies and tricks of the exam. We break down question types in English and techniques to avoid falling into traps, and will also arm you with a mastery of Desmos to help you crush the Math section.
